Question du Jour #34

I find this Orangina ad campaign terrifying. Seriously? A seductive, bikini/undergarment-clad kangaroo smoking a cigarette? I'll have what she's having. So maybe you can help me out:

What made the ad execs think this was a good idea?

Update: An astute reader pointed out to me that this is not, in fact, a kangaroo, but a deer. Well spotted!...as it were.

  1. Duh, everyone knows slinky bikini clad kangaroos are the best predictors of market trends. You might think you don't want it now, but just wait!

  2. I did manage to omit the fact that we *always* have a bottle of the stuff in our fridge...

  3. I hate to contradict you two, but isn't this a highly eroticised white-tailed deer (see the tail near the Orangina bottle and the hooves for hands)? Whatever the mammal, I am a bit perplexed by this ad campaign. Have you seen the other erotic Orangina animals? If not, you really need to see the erotic imagery in the form of poll dancing flamingos, zebras straddling giant exploding bottles of orangina, and lap dancing octopi: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sx7Ap5_VYmc . It may in fact blow your mind in a "what has the world come to?" sort of way.

  4. Gracious, I think you're right! I don't know what led me down the kangaroo path--no, I do; it was the ears--but good eye! Time for an update...
